THE LUNDBECK FOUNDATION
The Lundbeck Foundation is a commercial foundation
established in 1954 by Grete Lundbeck, widow of the
founder of H. Lundbeck A/S. Its main objective is to maintain
and expand the activities of the Lundbeck Group and
to provide funding for high-quality scientific research.
In 2005, the Foundation made total grants in the region
of DKK 225 million to research projects in health
and natural sciences. It is the Lundbeck Foundation’s
intention in the coming years to finance the establishment
of a small number of research centres of high international
standard.
NORDEA BANK FONDEN
Nordea, the largest banking group in the Nordic region,
demonstrates its corporate social responsibility by supporting
communities where it does business, including
the provision of funds for scholarships, sponsorships
and professorships.
Nordea Danmark Fonden donated DKK 2.5 million in
scholarships during 2002 and allocated an additional
DKK 700 million to student housing near Copenhagen
University the same year. As well as a very long range
of charitable projects, Nordea sponsors two professorships:
the Hans Dalborg professorship in financial economics
at the Institute of Financial Research in Stockholm
and the Vesa Vainio professorship in comparative
tax law at Helsinki University.
HEMPEL FOUNDATION
The J.C. Hempel Foundation supports cultural, social, humanitarian
and scientific causes as well as other initiatives
for the common good, mainly within shipping, trade
and industry.
Sponsorship of the Royal Danish Orchestra, a series
of chamber music concerts at the cultural centre at Anneberg,
yacht races and support of the sailing youth and
Handicap Yachting Union are but a few of the charitable
activities of the J.C. Hempel Foundation.
Through its cultural fund the J.C. Hempel Foundation operates
the Anneberg Cultural Centre. The foundation was set
up on 30th November 1948 under the name J.C. Hempel
Foundation by the founder J.C. Hempel, who until his death
on 30th January 1986 was chairman of the board of trustees.
